Description: 0.20 ? ?I?m transsexual so I want to become a woman, so I want to be with a woman not with a man?
This is not terminology that would be generally be used today, however, how people self-describe always takes priority over this
0.40- started to realise she was trans around the age of 11, started with dressing up with a friend, to dressing up sheltered in her bedroom, to when at 21 realising couldn?t live two lives
1.40- difficulty in coming out, went through NHS counselling, which wasn?t very good
2.00- a family member tried to out her, so she put it on Facebook, has now lost contact with father because of this
2.50- staying as male for her father, in the role of a son to please him, after an argument, realising she had to live her own life, even if it meant not contacting her father
3.30- everyone is okay except her father and brother, who she never got on with, thinks her brother feels embarrassed at her being trans
4.00- being Trans making it difficult to find a job, but is being helped by Gender Matters
4.45- wanting to find a work place that feels comfortable, probably just a small place
5.05- school was difficult, many people didn?t know, staying hidden
7.00- sheltered when it comes to dating, last relationship about 5 years previously, attracted to her because she was bisexual so thought she might understand Shevon a bit more, unfortunately didn?t work out, long distance
7.55- enjoys freedom too much for children
8.44- problems facing the trans community- people can do what they like in their own homes, but harder going out into the community, having to change clothes to go outside is difficult, doesn?t mind the looks but doesn?t want to be attacked or abused, walks around with 999 already programmed into phone if anything happens, being safer in the city centre because there are cameras so if anything does happen they?ll be prosecuted and you?ll get justice
10.00- going into the town centre, get lots of stares esp. from men
11.10- forget what other people think, just do what you think
11.24- ?fashion means a great deal to me, I do just dress casual but I do like to make myself look glamorous for special occasions? though it is difficult to buy clothes, used to make excuses, doesn?t feel like it?s getting easier, easier to buy from sex shops
