Description: 0.30 ? quite involved in the LGBT network
.10- came out as a lesbian at 15, had known for a while, told close friends first, then cousins found out, then mum, who was less okay with it. Friends were initially okay about it, but lost most of them when she got her first girlfriend, but her mum is now okay about it
.40- The hardest part was still being in sixth form, quite a bit of homophobia, from teachers included
.30- came out as bi first because ?I didn?t think it was so bad?, with the lack of support at home it was difficult because she felt on her own, until she had a partner
.00- ?Teachers, teachers were horrible they were a nightmare we?d be sitting in lessons and they?d make comments, they?d be driving past us they?d honk their horn, it was just constant constant situations erm one of the the head of sixth form had me in a little room on my own telling me off for being gay saying it was unacceptable and that I shouldn?t be doing it at school even though I hadn?t done anything at school erm so that was a bit erm awkward more than anything I don?t really know what the problem was but made things awkward?
.45- took family a long time to be okay with it, thought the problem was being gay but it was actually her previous partner that her mum (?) didn?t agree with
.00- no one had an issue at uni or at work
.50- does want to have kids but doesn?t want to give birth, but want to be properly settled because feels it would already be more difficult for the child having lesbian parents, have to make sure the child got more support
- Doesn?t mind holding hands etc. in public, but finds that toilets in straight clubs are difficult, getting looks thinking if she?s in the right place
.20- when she was younger and walking round with her girlfriend, they would be approached by men asking inappropriate questions, doesn?t happen now she?s older
.00- Martha (?) at the LGBT network, LBow Wolverhampton?s women?s group, talks about having to reorganise the network when the previous leader left, says she would have gone to the youth group when she was younger if she knew about it and felt she would have benefitted from knowing other gay people, seeing older lesbian couples being reassured by this
.05- reluctant to get a civil partnership because her relationships with women are no different, doesn?t understand what the problem actually is, she?d want to get married for love
