Description: 0- Talks about mental health professionals always assuming that being a lesbian has something to do with Gill?s mental health issues, even though she is very happy with her sexuality, needs to be more education for mental health professionals
.50- more education, more media, TV, radio, literature, internet, Youtube, helps to make people aware of these issues
.30- still struggles with people?s ignorance of mental health, even away from sexuality
.25- taught in high schools in 1980-1990, as part of pastoral role had to teach PSE (Personal Social Education) as part of this was sex education- the point being that the people teaching this in their pastoral capacity at this time, were not experts, they taught other things, in Gill?s case P.E. but no teaching of homosexuality
.50- after studying for second degree, taught biology/ecology in a college setting 16-19 year olds, also still had this pastoral remit for PSE, speaks about the differences, more open, but even then in the 1990s, no questions about homosexuality
.15- states that you don?t get homosexuality in the animal kingdom (which we now know to be false), use of ?gay? as kids do, to describe two people of the same gender doing something silly together, but not actually realising what it meant
.40- still homophobia, still racists
.50- but it?s easier for gay people to be more open
.50- but acknowledges it is still difficult for Trans people
